Before you fit

Lumens, beam angle and weather rating

Outdoor lighting is chosen on three figures. All three are on the product page where the supplier prints them.

  1. Lumens measure light; watts measure draw. Two lights of the same wattage can differ widely in output - compare the lumen figure.
  2. Beam angle decides spread. A narrow beam throws further and lights less; a wide beam covers a yard but does not reach.
  3. Weather rating is only what the box states. Where no rating is printed we do not claim one - treat it as indoor or sheltered use.
  4. Wiring is an electrician's job. We sell finished fittings, not installation. Switch off at the mains before touching an existing fitting.
